This was an excellent read. The section about “Blackness is beautiful on all other women, except black women” really resonated with me. I am a dietitian and was educated in a very weight-normative, homogenous field of thin, white women. I didn’t understand the racial origins of the preference for thinness until later, and how it’s now evolving in to a preference for “curves in the right places” and beauty features of other ethnicities projected onto white women and femmes.

I’m still learning a lot about how to challenge my internalized biases and understand the full spectrum of racism and oppression, so thank you for sharing this. I found it really helpful and I’ll be reading the other works you linked to, too.
