My mom used to joke that when she was asked about Asian/Asian-American people looking similar, she would respond with saying, “Well to me, all white people look the same.” It was very tongue-in-cheek and totally out of character for her (maybe that’s why I still remember it so clearly) but this story made me think a lot about that. Similar to you, I’m not sure how to combat the black & whiteness of race and how its perceived but I hope you’ll keep writing about this topic.
