I couldn’t agree more. As I started learning about love languages, I quickly realized mine is Acts of Service (far above all the others). Because that’s how I see it — I’m trying to make their life easier, simpler, better. And I found that although I wanted to be loved the same way in return, my ex partner simply saw it differently. It was a path to burn out and resentment and ultimately served as one of the catalysts for our eventual separation. Thank you for writing this and reminding us we don’t need to settle for unequal partnerships.
