I couldn’t agree more. I saw some start to circulate and like you, didn’t think much of it until I connected the posts with the intention. And it’s just so…bizarre. I’m not a parent, so I can’t comprehend the challenges of supporting your teen through this. But it’s obvious to me it’s an entirely tone-deaf way of approaching what would otherwise be well-intentioned.

It seems like just another way to co-opt something for your own gain/benefit, and when I take notice of who’s participating, there’s an interesting trend. From where I sit it seems to be majority middle-aged, affluent, white women…some of whom have teenagers of their own! I don’t get it.
